LISBON (PORTUGAL), Aug 24: A team from the Nepali Embassy in Paris, France, is arriving in Portugal to provide consular services, including document authentication, for Nepali nationals living and working in the country.
The embassy team will arrive in Lisbon on August 29, said Non-Resident Nepali Ambassador to Portugal and Nepali Ambassador to France, Sudhir Bhattarai.
Consular services set to go online
Ambassador Bhattarai said the team is being sent in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs due to recent issues related to document authentication in Portugal. The team will verify documents such as police character certificates, birth certificates, proof of kinship, marriage registrations, and other consular services certified by the Department of Consular Services in Kathmandu.
The two-member team from the embassy will stay in Lisbon for about a week, providing consular services until September 3. The Non-Resident Nepali Association in Portugal is supporting the initiative in coordination with and facilitation of other Nepali organizations active in Portugal.
It is worth noting that around two weeks ago, a joint team from the Department of Passport in Kathmandu and the Nepali Embassy in France conducted a mobile service camp for passport services in Lisbon, benefiting more than 3,800 Nepali nationals.
