Nepal beats Qatar 3-0

KATHMANDU, Oct 27: Anu Lama scored a brace as the Nepali women´s national football team defeated Qatar women´s team 3-0 at the Al Arabi stadium in Doha on Saturday evening.

Lama became the all-time topscorer in Nepali women´s football taking her international goals tally to 28 with her two goals on Saturday. She had also scored a goal in Nepal´s 6-0 victory over Qatar in the first friendly match on Thursday. [break]



Before the friendly series, Lama and Jamuna Gurung were level on 25 international goals each. Lama had become joint topscorer, along with Gurung, after scoring four goals against Kuwait during a friendly match 10 months ago, when Gurung was sidelined due to injury.



On Saturday, Lama gave Nepal an early lead in the fifth minute of the match. Skipper Chandra Bhandari doubled the advantage in the 14th before Lama scored her second and Nepal´s third in the 36th minute.



The Nepali team played an attacking game in the second half but could not find the net as Qatar put up an improved defensive game.

The victorious Nepali team returned to Kathmandu on Sunday evening.
