KATHMANDU, Aug 19: Ruling partners Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML have joined forces to remove Deputy Speaker Indira Rana from her position.
Both parties have called their lawmakers to the parliamentary party office to collect signatures. In a meeting at Baluwatar on Monday evening, top leaders of the two parties discussed the possible impeachment of the Deputy Speaker.
Rana faces allegations of sending a letter on her official letterhead to the US Embassy to facilitate a visa for personal purposes. Using this as the basis, NC and UML are moving forward with efforts to remove her from office.
