According to a press statement issued by the party, NC will hold central level rally in Pokhara (April 24), Jhapa (April 30), Sarlahi (April May 4), Rupandehi (May 6), Dang (May 7), Mahendranagar (May 9) and Kathmandu (May 20). The rallies will be addressed by the party´s CWC members including senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba and parliamentary party leader Ram Chandra Paudel.
The NC will also organize rallies in 42 districts beginning from May 1. The party plans to hold rallies in several districts simultaneously to raise awareness among people about the obstacles in the ongoing peace process and constitution-drafting. "The rallies are also expected to infuse dynamism into the party´s organizations," said a CWC member Pushpa Bhusal.
During the CWC meeting, Sher Bahadur Deuba presented a report on the ongoing peace process and the snags that have been impeding its progress over the years. "The CWC meeting will deliberate on the report and train party´s bottom line on various issues related to the peace process before bringing them up at central and district level meetings," she further said.
The NC also plans to develop its bottom line on new constitution through its CWC meeting before the mass rallies. NC had formed a 12-member Peace Process Suggestion Committee under the chair of Sher Bahadur Deuba and 14-member Constitutional Suggestion Committee under Ram Chandra Paudel.
The CWC meeting on Friday also drew attention of the government on the deteriorating law and order in the country and called for an effective mechanism to improve the situation. Likewise, NC also asked the government to ensure adequate and smooth supply of petroleum products to save the public from hassles. It also advised the government to adopt necessary measures to protect Nepali nationals in Gulf countries from getting affected by growing unrest there.
The debate over the party´s sister organizations have been put on hold for the time being as almost all CWC members insisted the party give priority to peace process and new constitution.
