NC leaders made the allegation during a press conference organized by NC Gorkha District Committee in Kathmandu on Monday. They alleged that promises by the Maoist leadership not to attack NC cadres have become hollow.
Maoist Senior Vice Chair Dr Baburam Bhattarai and Vice Chair Narayan Kaji Shrestha are from Gorkha district. NC leaders alleged that there have been several attacks on NC cadres in Gorkha even after the CA elections.
NC Gorkha President Chin Kaji Shrestha said Maoist cadres had left over two dozen NC cadres injured following the CA election in April 2008 just because they held different opinion.
NC lawmaker from Gorkha Jeevan Prem Shrestha complained that police had not booked the guilty even though they filed complaints with the police specifying the attackers. "This is the reason why the Maoists have been continuing attacks against NC cadres," he added.
NC leaders claimed that several party members have been displaced from five VDCs in Gorkha district after the Maoists stepped up attacks on NC cadres on Saturday.
