KATHMANDU, May 19: A meeting between two major political parties in the Constituent Assembly (CA) -- Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) and Nepali Congress (NC) -- Tuesday afternoon failed to break a deadlock in the parliament. [break]

During the meeting, Maoists proposed to register a ´commitment proposal´ on the president´s move while the NC strongly opposed it. "Since the NC didn´t agree with our proposal to register the commitment proposal against the president´s unconstitutional move, we failed to reach an agreement," said Maoist Spokesperson Dinanath Sharma.

He said the Maoist lawmakers will continue obstructing the House proceedings until other parties agree with its proposal or the president apologizes for his move.
