KATHMANDU, April 8: The Nepal Bar Association (NBA) has written to the Prime Minister requesting that lawyers be allowed easier access to Singha Durbar.
The NBA urged the government to reconsider recent restrictions imposed on lawyers entering the Administrative Court located inside the Singha Durbar complex. The move comes after authorities tightened entry rules, requiring lawyers to obtain gate passes before entering the premises.
Previously, lawyers were allowed entry based on identity cards issued by the Nepal Bar Council and the Nepal Bar Association. In the letter sent by Bar General Secretary Kedar Prasad Koirala, the association has demanded that lawyers once again be permitted to enter Singha Durbar freely using their official identity cards.

The letter states that legal practitioners across the country regularly appear before various courts and judicial bodies for hearings and representation. However, the current entry process has created practical difficulties for lawyers who need to access the Administrative Court located inside Singha Durbar.
According to the NBA, lawyers involved in cases at the Supreme Court, High Court, Special Court, District Court and the Administrative Court must reach court on time, but procedural hassles at the entry point have been disrupting their professional duties.
The association also said that although it had earlier drawn the attention of concerned authorities to the issue, no action has been taken so far.
