National wushu c'ship begins

KATHMANDU: The Ninth National Wushu Championship kicked off at the covered hall of Dasharath Stadium in the capital on Friday. National Sports Council Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama inaugurated the four-day championship.



The first day of the tournament didn´t feature any competition as the opening ceremony was followed by demonstrations. Altogether 245 players from 39 districts are competing for 36 golds -- 18 in sansau (combat) and 18 in thaulo (demonstration) events -- at the championship.
