KATHMANDU, July 9: The number of hotels using online solution providers for marketing is on the rise, thanks to companies like FastBooking which started service in Nepal a year ago. Voyage Villa is representing FastBooking in Nepal.

“Before Voyage Village was established, only two hotels - Hotel Yak and Yeti and Hotel de l´ Annapurna - were using your service. Now more than 30 hotels are using our service,” Jeffrey Gan, vice president - sales of FastBooking Asia, said. “We are hopeful to partner with more than 60 hotels by the end of this year,”

Officials of Voyage Villa said more than 100 hotels meet the criteria set by FastBooking. [break]

FastBooking is a pioneer in e-marketing and Internet-based technologies for independent hotels and hotel groups established with an objective to increase direct online bookings for hotels by simplifying online distribution management, according to Gan.

“Nepali hotels with minimum room tariff of US$ 50 and 30 rooms are eligible to partner with us,” he added.

Until couple of years ago, hotels in Nepal were limiting their online activities to having their webpage and relying on business from some online travel agents (OTAs). The scenario is changing and many hotels are laying emphasis on e-marketing and exploring Internet-based technologies to get business.

Gan also said FastBooking is adding four new services to the hoteliers by the end of this year. “We will be developing a system to reward the guests who books the hotels and its services through FastBooking, launching a development academy which will provide the staff members of the hotels trainings on sales and management, revenue management etc,” he said, adding, “We are also launching Calendar Intelligent - a tool that helps hotel to know about important program dates all over the world, and social media program that will help increase e-reputation.”

Officials of Voyage Village said more hoteliers are showing interest to partner with FastBooking as the guests pay directly to the hotels. Also hotels don´t have to pay commission to the agents, they said.

According to Gan, FastBooking has attracted both hoteliers and guests as the service allows customers to choose from 33 different languages and 65 currencies.

More than 8,000 hotels of 91 countries are working with this online booking solution of which 1,750 are Asian hotels, said Gan.
