MAHOTTARI, June 8: The body of a three-year-old boy who had been missing since Friday was recovered from a pond in Samsi Rural Municipality-5, Pokharbhinda, on Sunday, police said.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Panchlal Gole, spokesperson for the District Police Office, the deceased has been identified as Manikesh Yadav, son of local resident Rohit Yadav. The child had reportedly gone missing while playing near his home on Friday evening.
Six-year-old missing boy found dead in a pond
Police launched a search after receiving information that a sack containing what appeared to be a child's legs was floating in a nearby pond. Responding officers recovered the body from inside the sack.
Authorities have begun a detailed investigation, with police suspecting possible homicide due to the circumstances in which the body was found.
Meanwhile, police said two other children remain missing in the district. Twelve-year-old Gautam Yadav of Jaleshwar Municipality-12 has been missing since May 21, while 15-year-old Abhay Mandal of Jaleshwar Municipality-6 has been unaccounted for since May 28. Search efforts for both are ongoing.
