At an annual review meeting of the Departmental chiefs under the Ministry of Industry organised here on Thursday, Minister Koirala alerted the officials concerned to address complaints received from consumers about quality of cement, edible oil and medicines and directed not to compromise on such issues. Suggesting to making their work place coordinative and technology-friendly, he stressed that bodies directly concerned with people should be public-oriented, transparent and service-oriented.
The Industry Minister said that complaints of general public have not been decreased towards the Bureau of Standards and Metrology although there was some improvement on the Office of the Company Registrar and Department of Industries.
He directed to take action immediately against the employees, who helped tempering of taxi meters.
Reiterating that it would not be acceptable to him to tarnish the image of the organizations providing direct services to people, Minister Koirala said such organizations should not tarnish their images.
Review of works carried out in the previous years was done in the meeting as well as discussion was held on works to be carried out this year.On the occasion, Departmental chiefs familiarized the minister about problems occurring while carrying out works.
They complained that works were not being done as expected due to lack of resources and skilled human resources.
Chiefs of Department of Industries, Mines and Geology, Standards and Metrology, Office of the Company Registrar, Cottage and Small Industry Development Committee and Special Economic Project presented progress reports of their respective offices.
