KATHMANDU, Aug 23: The meeting of the Constitutional Council (CC) has begun this afternoon. The meeting is reported to be focused on the appointment of the chiefs at various constitutional bodies. The meeting is said to recommend the name for the Chief Justice at the Supreme Court and the Chief Commissioner at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).
The meeting is likely to recommend the name of Om Prakash Mishra and Cholendra Shamsher Rana for the post of CJ. The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee had turned down the name of Deepak Raj Joshi to the post of CJ after which the post is vacant.

Likewise, the name of Nabin Kumar Ghimire is on the top list for the CIAA head. After the retirement of Deep Kumar Basnyat, the post of CIAA chief is vacant.
Prime Minister is the chairperson of the CC whereas chief justice, speaker and deputy speaker of House of Representatives, chairperson of National Assembly and main opposition leader are the members of the council.
