Meeting between commerce department and gold and silver dealers positive

Kathamndu, June 18: A meeting held between gold and silver dealers, who are in agitation, and government representatives held at Babarmahal-based Department of Commerce on Tuesday was positive and agreed to hold next meeting on June 20. [break]



Director General of the Department, Narayan Buidari, from the government side and Chairman of the Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers´ Association (NEGOSIDA), Maniratna Shakya, and Chairman of the federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Gem and Jewellery Associations, Ramesh Maharjan from the side of gold and silver dealers held the meeting.



Shakya said that the next meeting has been scheduled for June 20 as the Department was positive to formulate standard guideline soon by collecting suggestions of gold and silver dealers to make the business of gold, silver and gems a systematic and transparent.



Gold and silver dealers across the nation has been launching agitation from June 12 putting forth various demands including smooth supply of gold as per the demand, suggestions of gold and silver dealers be collected while formulating rules related to monitoring, among others.



Around 12,000 gold and silver dealers across the nation are associated under the both organizations.
