KATHMANDU, June 11: Maria Hospital (Maria Health Centre Pvt. Ltd.) in Baluwatar, Kathmandu, has been shut down after authorities found it operating without legal approval.
According to the Nepal Medical Council, the facility was sealed following an inspection that confirmed it was running without proper authorization. Council Acting Registrar Dr Dipendra Pandey said the hospital was closed temporarily after a monitoring team found multiple regulatory violations.

He added that the Council has written to the District Administration Office and the District Police Range, Kathmandu, requesting action against the hospital operators.
The Council has also suspended the temporary practice registration of three Chinese nationals found involved in medical practice at the facility, stating that they were operating without meeting required approvals and clinical standards.
In addition, Nepali doctors whose names were displayed on the hospital’s board in violation of the medical code of conduct have been instructed to submit written explanations within a specified timeframe, Dr Pandey said.
