Maoists shut Dang over colleague assault

DANG, June 11: UCPN (Maoist) on Friday enforced a shutdown of all major markets in Dang over the beating up of a party cadre allegedly by CPN-UML cadres. The agitating Maoists also vandalized a motorcycle.



The Maoists enforced the strike alleging that their colleague Babin KC aka Patan was beaten up by UML-affiliated Youth Force (YF) cadres.



While vehicles chose to remain off the road, industries and academic institutions remained shut in Lamahi, Ghorahi and Tulasipur.



The strike was however called off in the afternoon.



Maoists alleged that a group of youths led by Arjun Gurung thrashed KC, who is a member of Young Communist League (YCL) on Thursday evening. KC is being treated in India.



Police have beefed up security after the incident.



Police Inspector Hari Das Shrestha said a search for the guilty in on.
