A district level meeting that was chaired by Maoist district secretary Shambhu Mandal held at Kalaiya in Bara district on October 9 nominated Chaudhary and Phaujdar as the party´s secretariat members in district committee, said a Maoist source. The party had earlier claimed that actions had been taken against both the accused.

The party source further informed that names of Chaudhary and Phaujdar feature on 54th and 56th number in the list of 57-member secretariat committee.

Maoist politburo member and Bhojpura Madhes province in-charge Bhim Prasad Gautam, central member Prabhu Sah and Anjana Bisankhe, among other Maoist leaders, were present in the meeting when the two were nominated.

A case has been filed in the District Police Office against Chaudhary and Phaujdar on charges of abducting and killing journalist Sah on July 2, 2007.

Meanwhile, Guru Prasad Gautam, chairman of Bara chapter of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, said the nomination of the accused for responsible posts reflected the state of impunity in the country.
