KATHMANDU, April 25: Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) has decided to settle its row with Nepal Army (NA) through political consensus.

A meeting of the party´s secretariat, the apex body of the party, Saturday, reached the conclusion to seek consensus from all political parties including main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) over its bid to sack army chief General Rookmangud Katawal.

“Decision over sacking army chief Katawal will be taken through a consensus from all political parties,” said Maoist spokesperson Dinanath Sharma, following a three-hour long meeting at prime minister and Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal´s official residence in Baluwatar.

Sharma said their party is waiting for coalition partner, Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist)’s decision over the issue. The UML is holding its standing committee meeting Saturday afternoon to form its opinion over the issue of whether or not to sack army chief Katawal.
