KATHMANDU, May 3: An all-party meeting called by Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) at the party’s head office in Balkhu Sunday evening concluded that the Maoists´ unilateral decision of sacking army chief was against the spirit of the Comprehensive Peace Accord (of 2006) and the Interim Constitution. The meeting attended by 18 parties -- except the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) -- expressed "serious disagreement". The parties issued a joint statement drawing the attention of President Dr Ram Baran Yadav.
The meeting followed an earlier meeting of 17 political parties called by the Nepali Congress. That meeting decided to urge the president to "protect" the constitution.
An emergency meeting of the CPN-UML earlier Sunday decided to pull out of the five-party coalition and withdraw its support to the Maoist-led government with effect from Sunday.
