BHAKTAPUR, July 23: Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party leader Ram Chandra Paudel said on Saturday that the UCPN (Maoist)’s internal dispute has taken its toll on the country’s peace and constitution writing processes.

Addressing a program organized on the occasion of 29th BP Memorial Day in Bhaktapur this morning, Paudel said that the Maoist party, despite being the largest in the Constituent Assembly, has given less importance to the tasks of peace and constitution writing.[break]

He described the dispute within the Maoist party as being an irresponsible act and said the CA has so far been unable to yield any significant result mainly due to the intra-party feud.

The NC leader also accused the ruling CPN-UML of manipulating the five-point pact, earlier signed between the three major parties prior to extending the CA term, to prolong its stay in power.

Paudel also said that NC would now strongly present itself in parliament and called on party workers to be ready to take to the street for completion of the twin tasks of peace and constitution writing.
