Locals, Maoists clash in Simara

BIRGUNJ, June 11: Nearly 15 persons were injured in the clash between the locals and cadres of Maoist-affiliated Bhojpur Rajya Samiti Simara on Thursday.



The clash ensued after YCL activists thrashed some local youth for defying their banda. Maoist leader Prem Baral, Birodh Sharma and Min Prasad Apagain were critically injured in the clash. On the other hand, over 12 locals including Santosh Karki and Deepak Bhandari sustained injuries.



The injured are being treated at the local Sanjivini Hospital in Simara and Narayani Sub-regional Hospital in Birgunj, the police said.



The police fired two rounds in the air to bring the situation under control.
