The metropolis has been carrying out inspections at Nagdhunga in the past as well. “We will continue such inspections in the coming days as well,” Narendra Bajracharya, an officer at the KMC´s health department, said. He said that the office will take stern legal action against unscrupulous traders.
Meanwhile, the KMC on Saturday has deployed five separate teams of veterinary doctors at major checkpoints to test the chickens and goats being imported to the capital for possible infections. The office said the teams have deployed at Nagarjun, Kalanki, Tukucha, Dillibazar and Koteshwor. Bajracharya said that traders can sell goats only after vet doctors certify them as fit for slaughter.
Vet doctors will mark the healthy goats with green color and mark the unhealthy ones with red, said Dr Baburam Gautam, chief of the KMC´s health department.
