At the JC meeting on Friday, which entirely focused on the issue of accused judges, Singh urged JC members to come up with findings at the earliest.

The JC last week disclosed that some 70 incumbent judges across the country have been accused of irregularities.

JC member Moti Kaji Staphit has been investigating into complaints lodged against the judges.

“We agreed to identify the nature and gravity of complaints and finalize the issue at the next meeting,” Singh told myrepublica.com. The complaints were lodged by victims, plaintiffs and defendants, court officials, lawyers and others.

Singh said he also instructed JC officials to distribute the document of complaints and findings to all members.

“We will make public the names of judges found guilty on charges of corruption and misconduct after assessing the investigation report, Singh said.

JC is the only constitutional body authorized to take up and investigate corruption charges against judges.

The JC meeting was attended by Chief Justice Anup Raj Sharma, seniormost Supreme Court (SC) justice Ram Prasad Shrestha, Minister Singh, JC members Basudev Dhungana and Staphit. Chief Justice Sharma is also the chairman of JC.

According to JC, out of 70 judges charged with corruption and misconduct, 60 percent belong to district courts while the rest are from appellate courts.

Talking to myrepublica.com last week, Chief Justice Sharma had claimed that he would not leave “any stone unturned” to curb irregularities in the judiciary and render the judiciary´s image “clean”.
