“We have decided to hold a two-day national political gathering of indigenous peoples starting June 16,” said General Secretary of the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (Nefin) Aangkaji Sherpa, adding, “The meeting will chalk out our future strategy on formation of an alliance of indigenous and other leaders representing marginalized communities and to form a new party of the indigenous leaders who wish to quit their respective mother parties.”

He said the meeting will also forge strategy to increase representation of indigenous leaders in the new Constituent Assembly (CA).

They have also called a meeting of 56 indigenous nationalities on Thursday to discuss about their causes. Similarly, a meeting of federal council secretariat, a body of the Nefin has been called for June 13 to prepare a concept paper.

Meanwhile, the Nefin has announced struggle programs condemning dissolution of the CA without promulgating the new constitution on May 27.

As per the program, they will hold publicity program on Thursday and torch rallies across the country on June 3.
