"Many things will be settled if the number is determined. The obstacles in the way to moving forward will be cleared," Prime Minister Nepal said in an exclusive interview to myrepublica.com on Monday.
The prime minister added that fresh negations with the Maoists are underway through different political channels to determine the number of combatants to be integrated in the security agencies but he declined to give details. "I do not want to reveal all things at present."
Reiterating his earlier stance that he would not be a problem in efforts to reach consensus, he also urged the political parties to support the government for passing the bill aimed at amending the Interim Constitution so as to pave the way for extending the Constituent Assembly term by one year.
"I am very hopeful. I cannot imagine that the Maoists will stand against the sentiments of the people and the Constituent Assembly members," the prime minister said when asked about government hopes of getting Maoist support for extending the CA term.

The prime minister was of the view that the Maoists and their main leaders would be solely responsible for the situation that will unfold in case the Constituent Assembly expires due to non-cooperation from the Maoists.
He said he will remain prime minister until the parties reach a political agreement on contentious issues. "I will sacrifice [my post] when an agreement is reached," the prime minister said.
