KATHMANDU, Jan 26: The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has hosted a programme to celebrate the 77th Republic Day of India on Monday.
The celebratory event hosted at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu was attended by members of the Indian community and well-wishers in Nepal.
Republic Day to be celebrated for three days
The event began with the hoisting of the national flag of India by the Chargé d’Affaires of India to Nepal Dr. Rakesh Pandey.
Subsequently, a video featuring the address by Indian President Droupadi Murmu, on the eve of the 77th Republic Day, was screened.
During the ceremony, Pandey honoured the wives and close relatives of deceased Indian armed forces personnel, and handed them the AGIF (Army Group Insurance Fund) cheques amounting to Rs. 72 million.
Additionally, a video highlighting the notable advancements in India-Nepal relations over the years was screened.
The event also featured performances by students and teachers from the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre at the embassy, along with Nepali artists.
