The father-in-law and brother-in-law of Sunita Shah, 28, of Rajbiraj-7 sprayed kerosene on her and set her afire before the police reached the scene from a nearby police station after hearing her cry for help.
She has been taken to Dharan for treatment and her condition is critical, according to the police.
The incident happened when her husband was not in home. Police have arrested three people in this connection but her father-in-law and brother-in-law have run away.
According to neighbors, Shah was tortured by the in-laws for not bringing enough dowry when she married seven years ago.
