A bomb disposal team of the Nepal Army has defused the bomb after the locals informed about it, said police. [break]
According to SP Prakash Adhikari of District Police Office, Surkhet, the bomb was kept after wrapping it in a red strip of cloth.
It is not yet known who has kept the bomb.
However, it can be speculated that the bomb has been kept by the CPN-Maoist cadres to deter UCPN (Maoist) Puspa Kama Dahal who is scheduled to address an election campaign in Surkhet on Saturday.
Meanwhile, CPN-Maoist has called banda in 31 districts of the western part of Nepal on Friday and in Surkhet on Saturday.
UCPN (Maoist) Surkhet district secretary Lokendra Rana said the IED has been kept to slur the image of his party.
