Talking to journalists upon his arrival in Kathmandu after attending the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, Chairman Regmi also said that fresh CA election would be held on the stipulated date of November 19. [break]
Regmi hinted that his resignation from CJ could invite more problems. "I won´t step down from the post of chief justice. We should move ahead ignoring non-essential issues...," Regmi said when asked if he was ready to step down from the post of CJ as demanded by the agitating Baidya-led alliance.
Regmi´s remark comes at a time when senior leaders of various political parties are saying that the Regmi´s quitting the post of chief justice could be helpful in bringing the agitating parties on board the election process.
On the occasion, Chairman Regmi said that he apprised UN Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of the progress made in holding poll in November and the government´s efforts to bring all dissenting parties in the poll process during meetings held with them on the sidelines of the UNGA.
