Five lawmakers -- Sadrul Miya Haq, Rukmini Chaudhary, Bishwendra Paswan, Buddha Ratna Manandhar, and Raj Kumar Malbo Limbu -- have been chanting slogans at the parliamentary meetings, demanding that the Constituent Assembly (CA) ensure the rights of minority groups.[break]
Speaker Nembang time and again requested the lawmakers, who were chanting slogans in parliament, not to disrupt the parliamentary proceedings and asked them to submit a memorandum instead. He said he would make their demand an agenda for discussion in parliament.
But when the lawmakers turned a deaf ear to Nembang´s request, the speaker went ahead with the regular proceedings.
The same lawmakers have also been disrupting the Constitutional Committee (CC) meetings.
The next house meeting is scheduled for Sunday.
Meanwhile, Speaker Nembang also held a meeting with Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and urged the latter to expedite the task of preparing an integrated draft of the constitution.
"I told him the procedures," Nembang told media persons. Nembang said he would also meet CC Chairman Nilambar Acharya on Thursday to discuss the issue.
