KATHMANDU, March 26: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has emphasized that the standards set by the Election Commission during the 2082 House of Representatives election should be maintained in future polls.
Speaking at a reception organized by the Election Commission (EC) at Bahadur Bhawan on Wednesday, Prime Minister Karki noted that no re-polling was required at any polling center across the country, and the peaceful conduct of the election should serve as a benchmark for upcoming elections.

“This election has enhanced Nepal’s image internationally, increased respect for the country, upheld constitutional governance and democratic values, and contributed to the strengthening of democracy,” PM Karki said.
Reflecting on her appointment as Prime Minister in the mid-week of September amid legal and political uncertainties and security sensitivities, she highlighted that conducting the election under those conditions advanced democratic principles. While the initial days were challenging, she credited the EC’s determination and government support for the successful completion of the polls.
Following the announcement of the election and the issuance of the related ordinance, nearly one million young voters enthusiastically registered and participated in selecting their representatives, PM Karki said. She also extended her gratitude to the EC for conducting a clean, independent, fair, and fear-free election.
