KATHMANDU, March 30: The meeting of the High Level Political Mechanism (HLPM) that was scheduled for Tuesday was put off for Wednesday.

Nepali Congress (NC) Spokesperson Arjun Narsingh KC said the meeting will be held on Wednesday. [break]

After completing rounds of bilateral talks among the major political parties, the three big parties -- UCPN (Maoist), NC and CPN-UML -- had agreed to hold the HLPM meeting Tuesday to take stock of the current political issues.

The big three parties decided to hold the meeting after they discussed issues ranging from constitution writing, peace process and army integration in bilateral meetings in the changed context.

While the Maoist party is pushing for new government formation, NC and UML have put forward return of seized property and dismantling YCL´s paramilitary structure as preconditions for change in government.

While there was doubt whether the HLPM would be given continuity after the demise of its coordinator Girija Prasad Koirala, the mechanism´s members held their first meeting on Friday since Koirala passed away last Saturday.
