KATHMANDU, July 22: The member of the Advisory Committee of Upendra Yadav-led MPRF-Nepal, Amresh Narayan Jha said that the talks with the High Level Political Committee (HLPC) is going well. He said that HLPC has shown flexibility towards their 13-point demand.

“HLPC has realized that the concerns raised by our eight-party alliance are genuine,” said Jha. He argued that ignoring their concerns would not result in meaningful November polls. He claimed that his party Chairman Upendra Yadav was the single leader who spearheaded the Madhes movement in 2007. “Our party is a major Madhes-based party and we are likely to get maximum votes, if we join the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections.” [break]

The eight-party alliance includes the MPRF-Nepal and Sharat Singh Bhandary –led National Socialist Party among other agitating parties. In a separate context Jha said that there was no fear from the Tarai-based armed outfits.

“There is no reason to get terrified by them,” said Jha, maintaining that armed outfits had already lost their ground in Madhes. He further said that some of the notorious gangsters of armed outfits were only against Madhesi leaders.

“I don’t see any terror from them.” He claimed that armed outfits could do no harm at polling booths. “And the state should not get worried by them as they don’t have any energy,” Jha argued.
