HLPC asks government not to take decisions that have long-term consequences

KATHMANDU, July 13: The High Political Committee (HLPC) has drawn attention of the government not to take decisions that have long-term consequences.



A meeting of the HLPC held at Baneswor on Saturday concluded that the government is formed particularly for holding Constituent Assembly elections on the scheduled date. [break]



"This government is formed for holding CA elections. It should be focused on works related to hold elections. We have decided to draw attention of the government to this effect ," Vice Chairman of the UCPN (Maoist), Narayan Kaji Shrestha said emerging from the meeting.



This move comes in the wake of the Supreme Court´s interim order against the agreement with India to allow the latter to upgrade the immigration system at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) and to set up Indian immigration check points at Lumbini and Pashupatinagar.



The meeting has also welcomed recent decision of the Mohan Baidhya-led CPN-Maoist to form a talks team for holding talks with the government. The HLPC has decided to hold talks with CPN-Maoist.
