BAGMATI, Oct 28: Hetauda is facing a blood shortage as blood donation programmes have declined during the Dashain holidays.
Tanka Dahal, head of the Blood Transfusion Center at the Nepal Red Cross Society in Hetauda, said the shortage had arisen because various organizations had not held blood donation programmes during the holidays.

The center has appealed to organizations to organize blood donation drives. Following the appeal, 21 units of blood were collected at a donation drive in Churiyamai on Tuesday, Dahal said.
Amid the shortage, the Himalayan Riders Society, in coordination with the Hetauda branch of the Nepal Red Cross Society, is organizing a blood donation programme at Buddha Chowk on Hetauda Main Road on Thursday, October 29, at 7 am, according to Society President Raju Thapa Magar.
Thapa Magar urged the public to donate blood, saying the programme was being organized to help ease the shortage.
According to Dahal, Hetauda requires 10 to 15 units of blood daily.
