KATHMANDU, Oct. 7: The government has initiated a process to stop providing salaries to the VDC secretaries for defying government´s order to return to their working stations in respective VDCs.

The government has come up with this move when some VDC Secretaries are eluctant to go back to their respective VDC offices, according to Assistant Spokesperson at the Ministry of Local Development Prem Kumar Shrestha. [break]

It is noted that most of the VDC secretaries have returned their work station following the Ministry´s direction for the same.

Shrestha further said it was recommended to some VDC secretaries obliging to look after 3-4 VDCs in the Hilly and Mountainous regions to deliver services being stationed in a convenient VDC.

The Ministry has urged the concerned District Development Committee to monitor whether the VDC secretaries are effectively delivering services to people from the respective working station.

A team headed by an Under Secretary has been formed to monitor their performances from the ministry level, added Shrestha.
