Govt to mobilize Rs 400m for relief assistance to flood victims

KATHMANDU, June 19: A meeting of  Chairman of Interim Council of Minister Khil Raj Regmi, Ministers and the head of the security agencies on Wednesday decided to allocate additional Rs. 400 million to mobilize as relief assistance for the flood affected people.



According to chairman’s press advisor Bimal Gautam, the meeting held at Regmi’s official residence, Baluwatar decided to transfer Rs 400 million to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund and provide the relief assistance of Rs 40,000 each to the family of those who died in the floods and landslides.[break]



During the meeting, Home Minister Madhav Ghimire briefed chairman Regmi about the damages caused the by the recent floods and landslides triggered by the monsoon rains across the country.



On the occasion, Minister Ghimire informed that his ministry has deployed all government security agencies in the rescue, relief and search for the missing.



During the meeting chairman Regmi directed to accelerate the rescue and prevention efforts and to provide the relief to flood affected people.



Chiefs of three security agencies and secretaries of Home, Finance and Health Ministries were also present during the meeting.
