Govt starts talks with fringe parties for polls

KATHMANDU: The government has started holding talks with various fringe political parties to bring them on board the election process. The government talks team led by Home Minister Madhav Prasad Ghimire held talks with the Progressive Democratic Front (PDF) on Tuesday evening.



According to talks team member and Minister for Information and Communications Madhav Prasad Poudel, the talks were held to create environment to ensure participation of all political parties in the upcoming election. “They all have expressed commitment to participate in the polls,” he said. The political parties affiliated with the PDF have submitted 30 various demands with the government. Those holding talks with the government include Maxist Leninist-Socialist party, Sashakti Nepal, Garib Janaekta Party, Martyrs and Injured Coordiation Committee, Janaekta Sahakari Party, Janmorcha Nepal, Nepal Ganatantrik Ekta Party. Some of these parties holding talks with the government are yet to register with the Election Commission.
