Govt plans to construct highway bypass in Narayanghat

CHITWAN, June 7: In a bid to reduce traffic congestion in the Narayanghat city, the government is planning to construct a bypass road so that the vehicles plying the East-West Highway do not have to enter the Narayanghat bazaar. According to the preliminary plan, a 7.8 km bypass road will be constructed from Bhrikuti Chowk of Gaidakot VDC of Nawalparasi to Ramnagar of Chitwan.



According to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Management, construction of the road has already started. [break]



However, the ministry shared that locals have raised concerns over the possible social and environmental impact of the bypass road. The locals of Gaidakot VDC have already submitted their concerns and suggestions to the ministry.



The locals in their suggestions to the ministry have requested that the bypass road should avoid populated areas of Gaidakot. They have said suggested that the road should be constructed along the Thumsi Hanuman Temple located in a forest to the west of Narayanghat bazaar.
