Govt employees stage sit-in at Finance Ministry

KATHMANDU, July 12: Different Government employees´ organizations have staged a sit-in at the Ministry of Finance on Friday demanding that the government increase their salaries.



They have demanded that the budget for the fiscal year 2013/014 should consider increasing salaries of the government employees as it was not adjusted for the last three years in view of the annual price hike. [break]



The employees´ organizations stressed on the need of implementing the seven-point-demand submitted on July 1 to the Minister for Finance, adding that ´Empty hand and empty stomach can not provide effective services.´



Nepal Nijamati Karmachari Sangathan, Nepal Rastriya Karmachari Sangathan, Nepal Nijamati Karmachari Manch, Rastrasebak Karmachari Sangathan, Rastriya Karmachari Sangathan, Nepal Nijamati Karmachari Sangh, and Rastriya Swatantra Karmachari Milan Kendra demanded that the salaries should be increased by a minimum of Rs. 10,000.



The employees organizations have also demanded that the government should manage accident insurance worth one million rupees, grade equivalent to one day salary, payment of more than 180 days of saved leaves, and increase of the uniform allowance to Rs. 15,000.



Also, they have demanded equal allowance to the employees working in temporary, wage and contract basis.
