According to NGA General Secretary Tashi Ghale, they had requested for training opportunity to three players in South Korea. "Though we had requested for training opportunity to three players they selected Sharma only," Ghale told Republica.
"In order to present ourselves as strong contenders in next year´s Incheon Asian Games, we wanted to avail training facility to at least three of the six players of the Surya Nepal NGA Youth Golf Development Program," said Ghale.
"The South Koreans inquired about the physical details of all three players before selecting Sharma. We are optimistic that the training will be very helpful to Sharma for developing his golf skills. Sharma will get opportunity to train alongside Korean national players, who are also undergoing training for the Incheon Games," Ghale said.
According to Ghale, the South Korean Golf Association will make food and accommodation arrangements for Sharma. "Sharma will get all the facilities required for the training from the Koreans. NGA will provide tickets while Surya Nepal has been providing Sharma with Rs 650 as daily allowance," added Ghale.
Meanwhile, Ghale also revealed that NGA was planning to send the top two players -- Prajapati and Bogati -- to India for a three-month training. "Abroad training will be very much fruitful for players´ development. We are in negotiations with the Indian Golf Union, Indian National Golf Academy and others. We are optimistic that we will be able to send two players soon," Ghale said.
Altogether six players are currently undergoing the NGA training camp sponsored by Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd. The top two players will be selected after their final assessment in the four-member national team to represent Nepal in the Asian Games. According to NGA, two other players will be picked from open selection tournament.
