CCRC pulled off a massive 118-run victory against Tribhuwan University (TU) in the semifinal match played at the TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur while Golden Gate defeated Classic College International by six wickets on Saturday. [break]
CCRC elected to bat first and put up 205 runs in allotted 20 overs losing five wickets. TU removed CCRC opener Mehboob Alam for naught but another opener Anil Mandal and Subash Pradhan anchored the innings with a 110-run second wicket partnership.
Mandal struck 83 runs off 53 balls including 10 boundaries and 2 sixes. Pradhan scored 51 runs off 36 balls. Pradhan struck five boundaries and two sixes. Gyanendra Malla was unbeaten on 49 runs.
Rahul Pratap Singh took two wickets.
In chasing the huge total, TU batsmen could not resist the CCRC bowling attack and were all out for 87 runs in 19.1 overs. Sagar Adhikari topscored for the side with 36 runs while Sudeep Sharma scored 13 runs. No other batsman other than Adhikari and Sharma reached double figures.
Abhay Rana took three wickets while man-of-the-match Anil Mandal claimed two wickets.
In another semifinal, Classic put up 134 runs in allotted 20 overs losing nine wickets. Niraj Chand scored 67 runs off 61 balls while Basant Regmi hit 14 runs. No other batsman could reach double-digit score.
Dipendra Chaudhary and Raju Basnyat took two wickets each for Golden Gate.
Chasing the modest total, Golden Gate met the target in 16.3 overs losing four wickets. Paras Khadka topscored for the side with unbeaten 36 runs while Sanjay Shrestha scored 34 runs off 19 balls. Paresh Lohani struck 27 runs while Dipendra Chaudhary scored 23 runs.
Paras Khadka, who also claimed a wicket, was adjudged man-of-the-match.
The final match of the tournament will be played on Monday.
