KATHMANDU, Nov 1: The National Vocational Training Academy under the Ministry of Youth, Labour and Employment is set to offer free online training to young people on the effective use of artificial intelligence (AI) and prompt writing.

The programme aims to equip young people with practical AI skills through a course titled 'Effective Use of AI and Prompt Writing'.

The training will be conducted on November 4 and 5 (Wednesday and Thursday) in four separate sessions: 10 am to noon and 6 pm to 8 pm on both days. Each participant will be assigned to one of the four sessions. With 500 seats available per session, the programme can accommodate up to 2,000 participants.

The course will cover the effective use of AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude, techniques for writing clear and useful prompts, and the use of AI to prepare emails, notes, meeting minutes and presentations.

Participants will also learn how to generate images and short videos using AI, use the technology responsibly and verify the accuracy of AI-generated information.

The training aims to help young people apply AI tools in their studies, employment and professional activities. Conducting live online training is also a new initiative for the ministry.

The ministry expects the experience gained from this programme to help expand access to future online and skills development courses targeting larger numbers of young people across the country.

"Knowledge and skills related to AI should not remain limited to a few individuals. As technology advances, the opportunities it creates must be accessible to young people across the country. This free online training is designed to provide basic AI knowledge and practical skills.

Our goal is to offer more advanced courses through both online and in-person platforms in the coming days, enabling a larger number of young people nationwide to become proficient in AI technology," said Youth, Labour and Employment Minister Ramji Yadav.

Interested individuals can apply for the training online. Applicants will be informed about their assigned sessions before the programme begins.
