Bairagi was shot at by the group when he was returning back to his apartment at Gaur-8 at 8 pm. [break]
According to the Superintendent of Police at Rautahat Ghanashyam Aryal, Bairagi was shot in his back and died after half an hour.
Bairagi was Vice President of Nepal Wrestling Association.
Bairagi, 45, had won a bronze medal in 69 kg weight category in the Eighth South Asian Federation Games (SAF Games) held in Kathmandu in 1999.
Bairagi was assigned by the National Sports Council as an assistant coach of wrestling for Rautahat.
