Home Minister Sudan Gurung had earlier said Khadka was detained for investigation into money recovered from his residence during the Gen-Z protests. Investigators from the Department of Money Laundering Investigation had previously collected burnt banknote fragments and ashes from his house as part of the probe.
On Sunday, the court granted authorities permission to keep Khadka in custody for seven days to facilitate further investigation.
Khadka is the latest high-profile figure to be hospitalized following arrest. Earlier, UML Chair KP Sharma Oli, who was detained on Saturday, was also admitted to the same hospital.
