KATHMANDU, July 4: An unidentified group tried to smear ink on the face of Madhav Acharya, director general of the Department of Forests, at his office in Babarmahar, Sunday afternoon.

According to Acharya, the group led by one Samir Karki entered his office purportedly to submit an application requesting for timber.

"As I started reading the application, they sprinkled ink on my face and body," Acharya said.

They used the ink that was on his table. They caused no physical harm on the chief of the forests department.

"They did not say anything. They only sprinkled ink on my face and body," Acharya said detailing the incident.

The group ran away, chanting slogans, Acharya said, but their slogans were not comprehensible.

Government officials said the group chanted slogans supporting Matrika Yadav-led CPN (Maoist).
