KATHMANDU, March 18: President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Pradeep Jung Pandey, who was arrested on Tuesday on corruption charges, has been admitted to hospital after some health problem.

Pandey was admitted to the Bansbari-based Sahid Gangalal National Heart Centre on Tuesday night after experiencing some health problem soon after the Central Investigation Bureau of the Nepal Police brought him to its Maharajgunj-based office. Pandey was arrested from his residence in Baluwatar.

The arrest was made after a writ petition demanding an interim order against possible arrest of Pandey in relation to an old corruption charge was scrapped by the Supreme Court.

CIB Chief, DIG Hemanta Malla, said that the health report would determine whether or not Pandey should be handed over to the Court today.

The arrest was made as part of a campaign to hand over those sentenced by the court to the Court Order Implementation Directorate General.

The court found him guilty on corruption charges when he served as a government employee at the Drinking Water and Sewerage Management Office 30 years ago. RSS
