Flood damages 670 hectares of plantation

NEPALGUNJ, July 26: The recent Rapti River flooding has damaged around 670 hectors of plantation in various parts of Banke district.



Based on the survey conducted by Banke District Agriculture Development Office (DADO), the flooding has caused massive destruction in Gangapur VDC as the enraged Rapti river has washed away more than 235 hectors of fertile plantation.[break]



Similarly, the flood from Maan Khola has damaged 153 hectors of plantation in Matahiya, 153 hectors in Phatepur, 72 hectors in Holiyama, 39 hectors in Khaskusma, 19 hectors of Kachanapur and 5 hectors in Banaktuwa VDC of the district.



While talking to Republica, Chief of DADO Rajendra Pradhan shared that the flooding has affected the lives of many farmers.



"DADO has deployed officials to collect the report of individual property loss and the prepared report has been send to the District Disaster Management Committee Offic”," said Pradhan.



356 hectors of paddy field, 42 hectors of corn field, six and half hectors of grass plants were totally ruined in the flood, informed Pradhan.



"The collection of total property loss is not complete yet as we are still working on it every d”y," said Pradhan.



Besides the crops, 744 chickens and 135 ducks have also died in the flooding.
