KATHMANDU, Aug 14: Industrial and tourism entrepreneurs have urged the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalists (NEFIN) to withdraw its nationwide banda called for Sunday.

Speaking at a function organised here Saturday, coordinator of Nepal Tourism Year 2011 Yogendra Shakya requested the NEFIN to call off banda since strike causes negative impacts and inconveniences people.[break]

"We have to learn lessons from the general strikes organised by the UCPN (Maoist) in the past," he said.

President of Nepal Chambers of Commerce Surendra Bir Malakar said that banda has greatly affected economic activities of the private sector.

President of Hotel Association of Nepal Prasiddha Bahadur Pandey and tourism entrepreneur Suman Pandey said the culture of organising banda should end and nobody should deprive the people of their right to make a living and walk with freedom.

NEFIN Chairman Raj Kumar Lekhi said banda has been called tomorrow to pressure political parties for constitution drafting. Peace and prosperity will not prevail in the country unless the new constitution is drafted, he said.
