According to the organizers, the fair will last till June 1. The fair is targeted for students who are seeking further and abroad studies. The main objective of the fair is to provide information about various educational institutions as well as career counselling under one roof, the organizers said. Among 176 stalls, 122 belong to different educational institutions including 25 from India and the rest of the stalls are kept by consultancies.
"I´m here to find information about colleges for my daughters but I haven´t found the stalls of the colleges that I am searching for. So, I m disappointed," said Pratibha Sharma (40), a banking official.
Sujan Nepal, who appeared in SLC this year, found some of the stall members aggressive, irritating and ill-informed, probably because they had to repeat same thing to all visitors. However, he was impressed by the stall of one college which gifted him a pen."
ANOTHER EXHIBITION
The fourth Indian Universities & Colleges Spot Admission Fair is all set to kick off at The Everest Hotel in Kathmandu on Saturday, the organizers said.
The two-day exhibition to be organized by Kolkata-based AFAIRS Exhibition & Media Pvt Ltd will showcase information about premier Indian universities and colleges and academic, professional and vocational courses offerred by them.
The main objective of the fair is to provide education opportunities for the students in Nepal by creating awareness about the dynamic changes in the education sector, the organizers said. "Here students of Grade XII and graduates can directly meet admission officers to get rid of their confusions," said Sanjiv Bolia, founder director of AFAIRS.
The fair will offer Nepali and Indian expatriate students chance for spot admission to more than 100 bachelors and masters degree courses in arts, commerce and science streams. "We just want to create awareness among the students and let them know more about different colleges and choose the right one," said Vivek Sukla, project head of AFAIRS. Altogether 50 institutions will take part in the fair.
The main attraction of the fair is ´Free Career Counseling Session´ for the students by Pervin Malhotra, a career counselor and columnist, said Bolia. Banwari Lal Mittal, executive member of Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI) and chairman of Shree Airlines and Mittal Group of Companies, will inaugurate the fair.
The fair is supported by NICCI and Global Reach Nepal while Bank of Kathmandu is the official education loan provider. Interested students can visit the fair with their testimonials and photos for spot admission. Entry is free.
