Inaugurating the World Entrepreneurship Week on Monday, he said peace will not sustain until those rejected by the people remain in power and those elected are forced to take to the streets.
Claiming that he did not take a single rupee in commission from anyone while he was finance minister and his honest work made it possible to collect targeted revenue, Dr Bhattarai said the country cannot be developed without honest and sensible leadership.
Dr Bhattarai expressed rage at the current government’s bid to close the self employment scheme and sell off Hetauda Textiles which the Maoist government had decided to revive.
He said the current ruling leaders are corrupt and entrepreneurship cannot be developed until the corrupt are boycotted and entrepreneurs are honored.
He clarified that Maoists had no plan to seize private property. He said, “We want to promote private sector for development and there is no plan to control the private sector.”
At the program, Sunsari’s Maniraj Rai, Gorkha’s Tek Bahadur Gurung, Nuwakot’s Dhan Bahadur Lama, Kaski’s Chandra Kant Baral, Kathmandu’s Mini Sherpa and Narayan Prasad Gurung and Kaski’s Saraswati KC were honored for their entrepreneurship.
World Entrepreneurship Week is being celebrated annually in at least 77 countries since 2008 to highlight the importance of entrepreneurship. The week being celebrated under the leadership of Nepal National Trade and Commerce Organization will focus on promoting entrepreneurship among the people for economic development, according to chairman of the organization Krishna Acharya.
